Cattle Drives at Express UU Bar

Come to where the west still lives!
Join us for a 2-day cattle drive through the famous Santa Fe Trail.  Enjoy the beauty
of the great outdoors of New Mexico, sleep in the "Cowboy Bunkhouse", listen to the stories of the Old West and learn about the people that came across the same trail that you will ride on, then end each day by enjoying some of the best food you will ever taste!

You'll arrive on Thursday evening in time to enjoy dinner at our lodge.  The next day we will all eat breakfast together with the cowboys at 7:00 a.m. - sharp to prepare for a learning day with your trail boss.  To give you an idea of what to expect...

Day 1 - Learning the Ropes
After eating a hearty breakfast, you will go down to the barn and spend the morning learning the basics of how to saddle a horse and how to ride. In the afternoon you will get to practice what you learned and enjoy some time in the arena, with a quick analysis of your riding prowess.  We will even let you do some roping on our practice "animals". Dinner will be at 6:30.  Bedtime will come soon and you'll want to get a good night's sleep for the next day.

Day 2 - On the Trail
After breakfast at 7:00 we will go to the barn and saddles the horses.  Depending on where our cattle drive begins, we may haul the horses (and you) to the starting destination.  From then on, it is on the trail making sure that no cow loses her way or that a stray cow finds her way into our herd!  The herd will be "strung out" for quite a ways, so you may be on your own from time to time just enjoying the scenery, listening to the sounds of the drive, wondering about those that rode the trail long ago, and making sure the cattle stay on the trail.  We will stop for a cowboy lunch and then start again in time to get to the "holding pen" in time for the cows to settle in and then we will get you back to the comfort of the bunkhouse and a good shower and meal!  That night we will share stories of the days gone by and now that you've been on the trail, you'll likely be able to visualize what those folks of the past experienced.

Day 3 - On the Trail Again
Yep, breakfast at 7:00 again, then off the the holding pen to saddle our horses and finish the drive!  We will be dine by late afternoon and everyone will come back to the ranch for a hearty meal and another fun evening of "cowboy" tales, sharing and reminiscing about your time in the saddle - and maybe a good song or two!

$1450 per person for an all inclusive 4-night and 3-day adventure.

A portion of the proceeds goes directly to Horses For Heroes - New Mexico , Inc. Cowboy Up! Program

If you want even more fun, Express UU Bar will put together a custom package that could include, fishing, trail riding, sporting clay shooting, a visit to the historic St. James hotel, and hiking.  Stay a few more days ad take a tour through Red River, Taos and Angel Fire (you'll be on your own for this).  Additional days of lodging can be provided to you at a cost of $100 a night in the bunkhouse - or treat yourself to the lodge for only $200 a night

We must have at least 5 people committed to the fun, so bring your friends!
